Miracles for Molly Dunne – Fundraiser

Please join us in Hockessin on Saturday, June 4th, 2011 for special edition mini-portrait sessions to help raise much needed funds for six year old Molly Dunne and her family. All session fees ($50) will go directly to the Dunne family, along with a portion of all print sales. A special day deserves special pricing! For these sessions only, we’re offering exclusive print collection pricing for the fundraising event.

To give you some background information on Molly, she is a 6 year old girl who was diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension and HHT (Osler Weber Rendu) after collapsing at her first day of Kindergarten. A day that should have been a happy memory for her and her family, changed their life forever. After months of hospitalization and intensive rehabilitation, she was able to come home last month! With each passing day, Molly continues to get stronger and is making great progress. We’re hoping to help her and her family get back on their feet as well by helping offset the costs of medical care and other needs.

Boy did we have luck on our side for Jack and Heather's wedding! What started out as a dark and rainy day, turned out to be one of the most gorgeous days EVER for a wedding! The ceremony and reception were held at Rockwood Museum in Wilmington, Delaware.

One of my favorite things about shooting at Gibraltar Gardens is seeing each family discover the beauty of it for the first time. The landscape makes for an awesome backdrop for the family, and then I just let them enjoy the time together! I have found this to be the best recipe for relaxed and candid-like images, like the one's from this session. Enjoy!

There are so many great spots to walk around and find outside (when the weather cooperates!) and if it's a messy/cold day, the indoor space is always warm and in full bloom. Happy Monday everyone!

I thought I'd start the week off with some updates on my blog... and what brings us more happiness than babies?! Please help me welcome this beautiful little girl into the world, and congratulate her parents and her big brother too! We had a great session in their home, and a nice bright light shining through their windows. I think the parents would agree with me here... thank goodness for Monsters Inc for saving the day and giving us those last 10 minutes to get some great family shots as well, hee hee!

These images were taken at Longwood Gardens this month. We totally lucked out with warm-ish weather! I love the colors Melissa and Tommy chose to wear... not only were the colors perfect, but their outfits were comfortable and reflected their personalities too. Keep an eye out for more of Melissa and Tommy next season, as I'll be shooting their wedding images as well.

The Aber's Maternity and Family Session

How wonderful it is to see The Aber's enjoying time together, and with a newborn on the way... I'm sure these moments are even more precious as they go from three to four! Sasha and Eric are the owners of Home Grown Cafe', located on Main Street in the heart of Newark.

For those of you that may not have had a chance to experience Home Grown yet, I would highly recommend it! They offer very yummy vegetarian and vegan dishes, gourmet salads, and other fresh and creative dishes. Great casual dining, funky decor, and a great atmosphere to boot. Great Fall Session at Gibraltar Gardens!

The weather has really been great here lately, which makes it a lot easier for the little ones outdoors. And especially with this family... it allowed their boys to be boys! Lots of crawling, running and exploring that day. As you can see, they are also Steelers fans. Quick wardrobe change and the more formal session turned into a "let the boys run off some steam in the grass" session before everyone was too exhausted to go on. =)

More Weddings! Congratulations Allison and Josh!

Allison and Josh were married on the lawn at the Brantwyn Mansion in September. Simple elegance are two of the best words to use to describe Allison's style, and the setting for the day. The reception took place inside as the sun went down, and their wedding party definitely tore up the dance floor! My cheeks were sooo sore from smiling and laughing... what a great time!

With a love for children and families, NKA Studios is excited to be promoting adoption, and ready to celebrate your adoption with you! We have been blessed with the opportunity to photograph domestic adoptions, international adoptions, open adoptions, infants and older children… and each adoption story had been absolutely unique and simply amazing… as is the strength of the families.

We have joined forces with an organization of photographers called Celebrating Adoption. This group of photographers have joined together to help adoptive parents get amazing photos of their newest additions. We are photographers are from all over the United States and we have one goal; to promote adoption in our communities!

With the paperwork and the waiting finally completed… the new family member is finally here! The first few weeks and months after coming home are some of the most talked about adoption moments for years to come, so a family portrait session is a great way to document this special time as a family.

A Day with Will and Maddie

I will take any opportunity I can to work at Gibraltar Gardens in Wilmington. Every time I "shoot" there, something new is in bloom! It gives me a chance to slow down and smell the roses... literally! LOL!

Will and Maddie took every opportunity to explore what Gibraltar had to offer. The heat and humidity didn't seem to slow them down one bit, and they were both up for a little goofing around in front of the lens. Mom joined in as well, and was just as high energy as her two little ones!

The Glockner's

The weather couldn't have been more perfect for the Glockner's photo-session. The Peninsula on the Indian River Bay served as the backdrop, and we had a gorgeous peachy-pink sky that afternoon... great combination! There are so many places to shoot within the complex, and the two kids were eager to explore it all... with high energy of course! =) I think we slowed them down just enough to get the shots before all of us were ready to drop, lol!

The DeRegis Family

The DeRegis family portrait session was probably in the most picturesque setting I've had this season. It seems like it took forever for the Fall leaves to change color, and then we had about two days before the wind and rain caused all the leaves to drop! Luckily, this session was conducted on one of the two days!

Chris suggested Winterthur Museum and Gardens for the wonderful backdrop for her family's images... and boy what an excellent idea! The Enchanted Woods was a perfect place for the boys to run around and play, and just get lost in the moment. Despite the chill in the air, I'd say a wonderful time was had by all!

Dina and Paul's Wedding!

Congratulations to Dina and Paul who were married yesterday during very topsy-turvy weather conditions! Dina had worked so hard for the past year to make sure that every little detail was taken care of... so the only thing getting in her way was going to be rain. Good news was that the rain held out from the pre-wedding events straight through to the reception! Now during the reception... it was raining cats and dogs, with a fun dose of a tornado watch... but hey! We made it to the reception! LOL!

Eileen's Family Portrait Session

I worked with Eileen, her husband, and adorable (and very active!) son recently at the Judge Morris Estate in Newark, DE. This was one of the few days that the weather cooperated recently, thank goodness! They looked quite warm. I, on the other hand, was decked out in my Eskimo suit... and gloves! ;)

Molly & Brett - Sneak Peek

Molly and Brett had a beautiful wedding and reception the other weekend at Bellevue Hall in Wilmington. The weather was a bit on the chilly side, but the grounds at Bellevue were absolutely gorgeous... and no one seemed to even think about the cold during the ceremony (not even me... amazing!)

Holiday Mini's Are Back!

The holiday's are just around the corner... and I've been getting calls from some very organized early birds asking about holiday specials this year!

The first being announced is the Holiday Mini. This session will give you and your family 30 minutes with me at a local park of your choice, for $100! After your session, you will be able to select your images and purchase them a la carte, order holiday photo cards, have your portraits matted and framed, or turned into a gallery wrap. Think holiday gifts, everyone!

All gift orders will need to be placed by December 1st to have them in time for Christmas... so call as soon as possible to book your session!

Jennifer and Michael's Wedding

Hi there!

So happy to share some new wedding images with you! The past 3 weddings in a row have taken me up in Northern NJ... Point Pleasant twice, and Cape May. (Being the small town Delaware girl that I am... that's pretty far away for me, lol!)

Here are some of my favorite shots from Jennifer and Michael's wedding which was held at The Southern Mansion. It was a gorgeous southern-style mansion, with beautiful grounds outside, which is where the ceremony was held.

Summer? WHAT Summer?!

Wow! Time has completely blown by this year! I'm stunned at the fact that my kids are already back in school, and we're back to the fun of homework again. =)

I have also come to realize that I just have not been on top of blogging lately at all. (Thanks to friends and family that have reminded me ever-so-gently to get on the ball... haha!) May was the last time I updated my blog. So what in the world have I been doing? I've been shooting like crazy, attending photography seminars, and working with other photographers. Each week has contained a new form of learning for me. I am THRILLED to share that I have been working closely with Jeff Herbert of Herbert Studios. Jeff has been teaching me the art of studio lighting to round out my Portrait portfolio. He has an amazing eye and many years of experience, and I cannot even begin to express how talented he is and what he has to offer the world of photography. I feel so blessed to be working with him! There are so many shots that I want to share, and to save time and get to what you guys are really looking for (...more of my work!) I won't attempt to recreate the past three months in written form. Instead, I'll just cut to the chase and show you the shots. ;)

The Rojas Family

This past week I had the opportunity to meet and work with the Rojas family in their GORGEOUS condo in Philly. One of the little "perks" I offer my clients is the ability to travel to their homes for portrait sessions, which seems to work out so well when little one's are involved. Not only is it easier on the parents, its also less stressful on the babies... they tend to be most comfortable in their own surroundings!

I've attached three of my favorite shots of the day. For all of you that are looking for ideas... check out the great colorful pillows that were used in the background of the second picture. It gives such a pop to the images, don't you think? So feel free to get creative!

Brett & Molly eSession

You are looking at my most courageous eSession couple to date! These two were up for anything, and there were no flying insects nor unstable rocks on the Brandywine River that would stop them from getting into position for the perfect shot! The three of us laughed the entire time... so much so that my sides were aching a bit on the drive home, LOL!

Molly and Brett will be getting married this Fall, and I cannot wait to be a part of it! Thanks you two! See you in the studio soon!

Happy 1st birthday to Chase! He's growing so quickly! Chase celebrated his big day at home with a huge group of family and friends... and boy does his Mommy know how to throw a party! I've never seen so much food!

The Hernandez Family

Two posts in one week... woo hoo! I'm on a roll! ;)

Had a great time traveling to Baltimore to meet and work with the Hernandez family! The weather was perfect for us that day. We started out in a nearby park, and then finished the shoot in their home to give some of the images a more intimate feel. I believe their oldest son was very happy about that arrangement, as he was able to watch his favorite Sesame Street video while we were shooting some of the images in Mom and Dad's room...doesn't get any better than that! And heck, I would've joined him if I weren't working... we were exhausted by the end of the day, LOL!

The Cellucci Wedding

Hi everyone!

M.I.A. no longer!

Anyone ever make a mid-year resolution? If not, I'll be the first then! My mid-year resolution is to CONSISTENTLY update my blog from now on! There have been so many wonderful portrait sessions and weddings that I was busy doing, that I lost a bit of focus on keeping everyone updated! So today I'll start backtracking a bit to provide some updates. =)

In March I had the pleasure of working with the Cellucci's. What a wonderful group of family and friends they had gathered around them for their wedding! Jennifer and Michael are living in Florida, so most of our coordination was done via phone. It was great finally meeting her in person. She and I joked around the fact that in about 3 weeks we became BFF's from speaking so frequently, LOL!
